Top: A not-so-subtle reminder that late President Park Chung-hee, who ruled, largely dictatorially, for 18 years after leading a military coup in 1961, had previously served as an officer in the Japanese Imperial Army.
Bottom: A mural condemning Emergency Measure No. 9, proclaimed by the Park government in 1975. The measure criminalized criticism of the Yusin constitution and banned students from engaging in political activities - not a happy time.
